Migration Advisors Help to Settle in Estonia

Four migration advisors have started work in the Police and Boarder Guard Board to help foreigners to settle in Estonia.

Personal advisors give legal advice about different legal grounds to live in Estonia and the necessary documentation for people coming to study and work here but also to employers and educational institutions who invite foreigners.

“Police and Boarder Guard Board offered counselling before 1st of March as well, this was done mainly by case workers who did it in addition to their main tasks. With the new counselling service, we have four trained advisors with legal background, who offer advice. One advisor will deal with each person’s question personally and will know the persons matter from start to finish.

Advisors also have access to necessary data about the advisee and their casefile, which will allow for much more personal approach, “ explained PBGB Identity and Status Bureau chief expert Liis Valk.

The counselling service specializes in residence and temporary stay, but also documents and citizenship issues. PBGB already receives about 1300 oral and written inquirys per month about these topics and this will probably increase in the future.

Advisors are located in Tallinn’s Tammsaare and Pinna service point, in Tartu and Jõhvi police station and aslo part-time in Pärnu service point. Advisors can be contacted via phone +372 612 3500, by email, via Skype or by appointment. Advisors spean Estonian, Russian and English.
