High school / secondary education (or higher)
Admission is based on entrance examinations which take place in the beginning of July in Estonia: Tartu, Narva, Pärnu or Viljandi. Obtaining the visa for taking entrance exams in Estonia is the responsibility of the (non-EU) applicant. The University does not issue an invitation letter for a visa.
Note that a precondition for gaining entry to the chosen bachelor’s programme is that the applicant’s average study result at upper-secondary education level is at least 66% from the maximum score.
Upon applying, please make sure what documents need to be submitted both online and by regular mail by 1 June. All copies of required educational documents (upper-secondary school certificate and grade list/transcript) must be officially certified.
All international applicants are required to pay the application fee EUR 50, unless they have completed the previous study level in Estonia. Further information is available at: www.ut.ee/en/application-fee.
NB! Details of the requirements for documents are specified at www.ut.ee/en/prospective-students/bachelors-studies-estonian.
The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Estonian.
Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.
It is required that you send verified copies of the entry qualification documents directly to the university by postal mail, according to the instructions given by the institution. Important! Never send original documents by post!
The language of instruction of the chosen programme is Estonian. Please find more detailed information about the requirements for Estonian language proficiency at www.ut.ee/en/prospective-students/bachelors-studies-estonian. Information in Estonian is available at www.ut.ee/et/sisseastumine/bakalaureus/eesti-keel.
Specific requirements for Non-EU applicants:
Please check the country-specific information to find out if there are additional requirements you need to meet at: www.ut.ee/en/country-specific-requirements.
If admitted, you will most likely need to apply for visa/residence permit. Please find more information about the application process at: www.ut.ee/en/welcome/non-eu-citizens-residence-permits-and-visas while keeping in mind that Estonian representations are located in limited number of non-EU countries and travelling to the closest Estonian Embassy over July must be considered.
Please choose this programme platform when you have graduated from an institution abroad and are interested in applying to a bachelor ‘s programme instructed in Estonian offered at the University of Tartu. You can select the relevant programme while filling in the application form.
