Estonian animation wins Grand Prix at the Holland Animation Film Festival

“House of Unconsciousness”, an Estonian animation about “the dreams of chimney sweepers”, has won a Grand Prize at the Holland Animation Film Festival (HAFF).

The animation, directed by Priit Tender, is a psychedelic drama about a chimney sweeper and a burning woman. The film is apparently based on a long-term study of the dreams that chimney sweepers encounter most frequently.

The animation’s music was scored by Rainer Jancis, an Estonian composer and musician known also for writing songs for a band called Metro Luminal.

The Holland Animation Film Festival is an international festival for animated film, founded in 1985 and, since 2009, an annual event. The festival is a national and international meeting place and source of inspiration for animation professionals and rising talent and it promotes animated film as an attractive cultural leisure pursuit to all possible target groups.

In Estonia it is possible to study animation in English at Estonian Acadmy of Arts.
