Doctoral level (PhD) applicants must have a Master’s degree or corresponding qualifications and experience. At least 60% of the possible maximum results from your Bachelor’s as well as Master’s studies is expected in order to qualify for studies in Tallinn University. Tallinn University does not accept applications submitted by third parties. Applicants must complete and sign the application form themselves. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Estonian. All academic documents (diploma, transcript) need to be certified by a public notary or issuing university. If the document is not in English or Estonian it also needs to be officially translated. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. All required documents must be uploaded with the application by the application deadline. Applicants who have successfully passed their entrance exam, may be asked to send their educational documents to Tallinn University by post. Specific instructions will be given by the admission specialists to each applicant individually. Please do not send any documents by post until you have personally been asked to do so. Whether any documents are required by post can also be determined by examining Tallinn University’s country-specific requirements. which may state, for example, that the applicant’s Transcript of Records must be sent to Tallinn University by the awarding institution or that a document needs to be certified in a particular way. |

Overview
We recommend that you consider an application to the doctoral study of social work if you wish:
- to acquire in-depth knowledge of the science of social work;
- to develop skills to participate in the research and development of social work and social policy, present research results in the international scientific literature of social work and at conferences;
- to develop skills for working as a university lecturer for forwarding knowledge of social work, social policy and organise specialised training;
- to participate in public discussions, present research results in a well-reasoned manner and influence the social decision-making processes.
Objectives of the Programme:
- to create opportunities for acquiring the highest scientific qualification in social work;
- to support development of competencies for professional career as an independent expert in the field of social work;
- to create pre-conditions for the development of a new generation of researchers and lecturers with independent research skills for institutions of higher education and for social welfare and health institutions.
