Overview

The MSc Interaction Design programme offers a multidisciplinary curriculum that emphasises technology for the benefit of the people. The postgraduate programme favours everyone who is interested in shaping people ’s experiences as they interact with products in order to achieve their goals and objectives. This joint curriculum benefits from a culturally diverse foundation, wide potential audience and strong research groups from Estonia and Cyprus with extensive experience in the fields of Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Online and Technology Enhanced Learning and Interaction Design. The programme equips its graduates with marketable skills in design, technology/computing, and theory as related to the domain of Interaction Design, User Experience and Human-Computer Interaction. It offers a research-based approach to designing interactive, software and technical systems.

Programme structure

The MSc Interaction Design programme is an internationally accredited two years Master’s programme (120 ECTS), offered jointly by the Cyprus University of Technology’s Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts and Tallinn University’s School of Digital Technologies in English. Our programme is designed to run fully online (full-time or part-time) with emphasis on practice-based teaching through research, design and implementation of different individual and collaborative projects.

The curriculum allows you to fine-tune your education by mixing interdisciplinary courses, projects and research in design and technology. The curriculum runs on Google’s online learning suite and provides access to CUT and TLU online systems. The master follows a problem-based learning approach, focusing on semester-long assignments per module that are broken into smaller 2-week long cycles. At the beginning of each 2-week cycle the assignment is released, students work on it and submit their work at the end of the 2-week cycle having various forms (synchronous and asynchronous) of mentoring sessions in between. At the end of the semester, students have to present their project work and engage in a verbal examination session. Classic written examinations are not usual in this master program.

Career opportunities

Our graduates can pursue careers as Content Strategists, Creative Directors, Creative Technologists, Design Strategists, Developers (front-end or back-end), Information Architects, Interaction Designers, Mobile Designers, Service Designers, Usability Specialists, User Interface Designers and many more. Our graduates have excelled as entrepreneurs and have been prepared for self-employability through successful pitching and presentation of their ideas and work to professional and public bodies as well as pursued suitable funding opportunities.
