Entry qualification | Undergraduate diploma (or higher) BA (or equivalent) degree. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Estonian. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. All academic documents (diploma, transcript) need to be certified by a public notary or issuing university. If the document is not in English it also needs to be officially translated. It is required that you send verified copies of the entry qualification documents directly to the university by postal mail, according to the instructions given by the institution. Important! Other requirements | 1) Statement of research interests (your background in this field, ideas for your MA thesis; 1-2 pages) [to be submitted to DreamApply]: 30 points (min. required 21 points) Admission interview is a part of the application process and can be taken several times a year. The objective of the interview is to meet in person with applicants and discuss their motivation letter and research statement. The applicant’s language competence in English will also be evaluated. Interviews can be done via internet, e.g. using Skype (NB! a web-camera is required). Important! Only applicants receiving the minimum required points for each component will be invited for the next round. Students with long-term medical conditions*, may encounter obstacles in higher education. Aiming to provide equal education students have the opportunity to apply for adjustments to compensate for the disadvantage that their condition may result in. Lectures have the right to give reasonable adjustments, but not an obligation.

Overview
Engage in broadly interdisciplinary study of the relationship between literature, visual culture and film in contemporary and historical contexts.
Gain cutting-edge theoretical insights into intermedial aesthetics and into philosophy of literature, art and film.
Equip yourself with critical tools for cultural analysis of contemporary image and text-based media.
Students also acquire various practical skills such as analytical and problem solving skills, writing and presentation skills that enhance their employment opportunities and prepare them for different career pathways.
Interdisciplinary programme that is run in collaboration with the Estonian Academy of Art.
Programme structure
During the 2-year programme the MA students is expected to actively participate in seminars, to engage in field-related practice and to write a Master’s thesis. Throughout the first 2 semesters, the student attends numerous courses and seminars with the goal of fine-tuning the theme that will be developed in the MA dissertation. During the 2nd and 3rd semester the student engages in practical work organised by the school in collaboration with international literary, art and film festivals in Tallinn. At the beginning of the 3rd semester, MA researchers are required to submit a research proposal and choose a supervisor. The last semester is reserved for writing the thesis in the framework of the master’s seminar guidelines.
The thesis is publicly defended at the end of the last semester.
