Overview
Entrance auditions for bachelor and master’s levels are held from April to June. You can choose between 3 audition dates:
18−20 April
7−9 May
27−28 June
The audition/interview (entrance examination) lasts approximately 20−30 minutes. The examination panel will assess your musical skills and potential as well as your English language proficiency. For detailed audition requirements and assessment criteria click on the relevant study programme level in the boxes on the right of this page.
When you travel to Tallinn for your entrance auditions, you can also become acquainted with our facilities, meet staff members, observe open classes etc. If you are in doubt as to whether your musical skills meet the required standards, you may send us a video recording of your performance or portfolio of your compositions. If you do this at least 5 weeks before the audition date you are entitled to receive feedback from us concerning your level of proficency and whether we recommend that you come to Tallinn for the audition in person.
EAMT always prefers you to audition in person, but international applicants are allowed to submit an original video recording of their performance as a substitute for a live audition. You can only pass the entrance audition by video recording if the examination panel has no doubts about the authenticity of the recording, the quality of the recording is sufficient for the evaluation and your performance meets the highest standards.
Please note that you should agree upon your specific audition date and time with our admission secretary (margit@ema.edu.ee, +372 6675 709) no later than 3 weeks before the audition. In other words, if you have decided to participate in the auditions 18−20 April, you should contact the admission secretary no later 28 March; for May auditions the registration deadline is the 16 April and for June auditions by 4 June. If you are not able to come to Tallinn for the audition in person and wish to audition by recording, the same deadlines apply for sending your recording to the admission secretary. The admission secretary will also assist you if you wish to make an appointment with our staff members, receive a subject-specific consultation or have any questions about the admission procedures.
Before travelling to Tallinn for the entrance auditions, you need to submit a formal application together with relevant documents. The electronic application form and the list of required documents can be found here. The application deadlines for the auditions are 28 March, 16 April and the final deadline4 June 2018 (documents certifying completion of the previous educational level may be submitted later).
In most cases you will receive the examination result on the day of your audition. In other words, you will be informed whether you have been accepted into the programme you applied for or not. If the answer is positive, you need to confirm your decision to study at EAMT as soon as possible, but not later than 21 August. The 2018/2019 academic year starts on August 27. Please note that to formally enrol you need to have submitted all the required documents, including proof of previous qualifications and received diplomas.
The application fee is EUR 50 and normally needs to be paid by bank transfer. Tuition fees apply to all international students whose language of tuition is English. The fees range from EUR 600 to EUR 6000 per year depending on the study programme and your country of origin (EU or non-EU). Detailed information about the fees can be found here. A limited number of scholarships are available for international students. Auditions for the scholarships usually take place at the end of September. There is no tuition fee for doctoral studies. Students studying full time at doctoral level have the right to receive a monthly stipend.
